about

The fifth hour of Sun-Day is a sepia-tinted dream of defocus and desolation. Wind blows over seashells and eroded rock formations, forming indistinct alien melodies, weaving between small islands peaking out of the blue water like scattered pieces of crumbled mountains. These pieces are the last tributes to long lost and sunken kingdoms, once grand and pristine, decorated in the finest gold and ivory, now reduced to sad missives of sand and coral-covered pillars sleeping beneath the waves.

On a technical note, this hour of the series was recorded sometime in 2006, directly following the sessions for Beyond The Stars/Beyond The Sea (Infraction Records, 2006). While not using the same tape loops those recordings did, these pieces were created using the same equipment configuration, and with the same aesthetics in mind. In that way, Sun-Day 5 could be considered the spiritual counterpart to the oceanic Infraction recordings.
